Abstract
The determination of lipid profile in sheep sera is the aim of this study. Sheep are chosen from the county Caldiran (Aşağı Yanıktaş, Yukarı Yanıktaş, Kılavuz) of Van where endemic fluorosis is being observed. In this study 29 Morkaraman sheep samples were analyzed. The control group have 13 healthy sheep while fluorisis group have 16 sheep. These 16 sheeps are obtained from where endemic fluorosis observed. Selection criteria for establishing the group is the levels of florine in the sheep urine. The concentration of florine is measured by potentiometric method. The levels of trigliserid, total cholesterol, HDL-C,LDL-C and VLDL-C in the lipid profile is determined for two groups. In the control lipid profile the levels of trigliserid, total cholesterol, HDL-C, LDL-C, VLDL-C are 23,9 ± 1,96; 55,3 ± 2,48; 39,4 ± 2,54; 11,2 ± 0,97 ve 4,69 ± 0,36 mg/dl respectively. In the fluorosis group the levels of trigliserid, total cholesterol, HDL-C, LDL-C, VLDL-C are found 33,5 ± 3,89; 67,8 ± 2,72; 34,0 ± 1,54; 27,1 ± 1,69 ve 6,69 ± 0,77 mg/dl respectively. To conclude, the serum HDL-C values are not statistically significant in the fluorosis group. However, the differences between cholesterol and LDL-C values found statistically significant.Key Words: Fluoride, Fluorosis, Lipid profile, Potantiometric method, Shee
