Abstract
This thesis, which deals with the androgynous male representation in Hollywood cinema consists of three chapters. The first part deals with the biological and social aspects of sexuality in the light of psychoanalytical theories of the interactions between family and children. Also, the aspects and formation of the androgynous male are evaluated in this chapter. In the second part of the thesis, characters from representative films are analyzed through the theories defined in the first chapter. These characters are analyzed in subchapters titled as Libidinal energy, the Father model, the Mother model and clothing choices. In the last chapter, detailed film analyses are done in three films that include such subchapters. The aim of this study is to find out the ways in which androgynous representations are made in the representative films regarding the themes on androgyneity.
