Item COVID-19 Pandemi Sürecinde Bireylerdeki Anksiyete ve Umutsuzluk Düzeylerinin İncelenmesi(Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, 2020) Yılmaz, Zeynep; Other; OtherCOVID-19, which emerged in Wuhan/China,brought the new living conditions by affecting the whole world in a short time. The aim of this study was to investigate the level of anxiety and hopelessness of individuals throughout Covid-19 outbreak. Method: The data were collected between 25 March and 15 April 2020 by online survey method. 491 participants (382 Female,106 Male) were accepted to participate to the study. Participants were determined based on convenient sampling. In order to collect data, BeckAnxiety Inventory (BAI) and Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS) were utilized. Results: The results of the study indicated that 76,8% (N=377) of participants had mild level of anxiety, 11,4% (N=56) moderate level of anxiety and 11,8% (N=58) high level of anxiety. Women compared to men, and singles compared to married had higher level of anxiety. It was also found that there was a significant difference in anxiety in terms of age, but there wasn’t a significance difference in hopelessness. The findings also revealed that there were no significant difference in the levels of anxiety and hopelessness in terms of chronicillness. However, it was yielded that participants who live with people who has chronic disease have the highest level of anxiety. Conclusion: Covid-19 pandemic has negative impacts on the mental health of individuals. It is important to conduct new researches to examine the dimensions of these effects and to initiate intervention programs to minimize the effects
