Item Hemodiyaliz hastaları ve eşlerinde psikiyatrik morbidite ve yaşam kalitesi(Tıp Fakültesi, 2008) Göker, Ceren; Soykan, Atilla; TıpThe aim of this research is to determine the psychiatric morbidity inhemodialysis patients and their spouses, to evaluate the quality of life in both groups,and to show the relationship between the psychiatric morbidity and the quality of lifefor each gorup if there is any. The sample of the research consists of 46 patients andtheir spouses who are treated with hemodialysis in Ankara University MedicineFaculty Dialysis Center and three private dialysis centers in Ankara. After apsychiatric interview using SCID-I, both the patients and their spouses were givenHAM-D, HAM-A, BDI, BAI, SF-36, MMSE and CGI scales. According to DSM-IV65.2% of patients and 28.3% of spouses were diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder.The most common disorder was depression in both groups. It was shown that whenthe patients are more depressive and anxious, their spouses get less anxious. It wasalso shown that when the spouses? level of anxiety is higher, the patients? depressiveand anxious symptoms are lower. When patients perceive themselves bad in generalhealth and when they suffer from much pain, their spouses perceive that they have abetter physical function and they are better in general health. When the spouses aremore depressive and anxious, the patients perceive that their psychiatric well-being isbetter and similarly when the spouses are anxious, patients perceive that they arebetter in social function, general health and they suffer from less pain. All of thesefindings are thought to be related with denial, coping skills and perceived socialsupport.
